BLACK OYSTERCATCHER
Haematopus bachmani 

The Black Oystercatcher can be found in most rocky coastlines on the trail.  

Some of the best Central Coast birding sites to find it are: 

Monterey County
Pt. Pinos
 
Point Lobos State Reserve 

San Luis Obispo County
Montana de Oro State Park, Bluff Trail
 Hwy 1 Parking Areas and Turnouts 
Shell Beach cliffs and offshore rocks
Avila Rocks

Santa Barbara County
Channel and Island Cruises.(Along the rocky shores of Channel Islands) 
Goleta Point [Campus Point on UCSB]

Ventura County:
Santa Clara River Estuary [on occasion]

Ventura River Estuary [on occasion]
