Some of the best Central Coast birding sites to find it are:

San Luis Obispo County: 
Salinas River area (oaks & mistletoe) 
Route 58 east of Santa Marguerita Lake

Santa Barbara County: 
Cottonwood Canyon off of Highway 166 through Cuyama Valley
Quatal and Ballinger Canyon Roads off of Highway 33 [south of junction with Highway 166]

Ventura County:
Quatal Canyon Road [east from Route 33]
