Thayer's Gull
Larus thayeri 

Uncommon winter visitor along coast and offshore waters between November and March. Most sightings are of first winter birds.

Some of the best Central Coast birding areas to look for it are:

San Luis Obispo County:
park across Pier Street from Oceano Campground
Morro Rock 
Morro Strand State Beach 
 Arroyo Grande and Pismo Creek mouths

Santa Barbara County: 
 Santa Maria Dump
Ocean Park 
Rancho Guadalupe Dunes County Park

Ventura County:
 Santa Clara River Estuary (rare)
Ormond Beach (rare)
